Today, Kelly @ Kelly's Korner is doing show us your life: proposal stories. I couldn't pass up a chance to brag about my man, because I think I have the best story!
We went up to Colorado to visit Bryan's brother in August 2008. Monday the 11th, Bryan told me he found a cool trail that we were going to hike. So after a surprise breakfast of Panera Bread, we headed up into the mountains.
We hiked up a trail that lead to Gem Lake. We stopped and took a break at a clearing that overlooked the town of Estes Park, it was a beautiful view!
I was sitting on a rock, and Bryan sat down next to me and pulled out his phone and some headphones. He told me he had a "good song for the mountains" that he wanted me to listen to. I put the headphones in and pressed play....and I heard him start singing. I started asking him if he wrote this song, and I was so amazed. I even asked to listen to it 2 times.
After I listened to it the 2nd time, he said, "I wrote that song for a special day, and that day is today." He got down on one knee and tearfully asked, "Will you marry me?" Of course I said YES!!!!
These are the lyrics, from his journal.

He also surprised me with a picnic we ate up on the mountain from where else....Panera! :)
I was WAY excited!!
So happy!
After our picnic we spent the day enjoying the picturesque town of Estes Park.
That night we celebrated with a dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in downtown Denver.
It was the perfect day!!
And one other fun fact, the song Bryan proposed with is the same one that we danced to for our first dance at our wedding!
And here we are celebrating our one year anniversary! Man time flies!! I promise to be back soon with pictures from our anniversary trip.
Have a great weekend!
I love your story and that we pulled it off!!! Sneaking clothes and accessories to him for your celebration dinner was fun. : )
ReplyDeleteHow romantic that he wrote a song for you. But I think my favorite part of your story is that Panera was involved!
