Living Room Revamp

Yesterday Bryan and I decided to change our living room up a bit. I previously had some fabric hanging on the walls, but I had gotten a little tired of it and was ready for a change. I used some frames that I already had, bought some blue spray paint at Lowe's and went to work. The frames started out black, so I sprayed them blue and then we distressed them so that you could still see some of the black.
We bought a moss wreath (originally $50 we got it for $23!!!!) and some decorative keys at Pottery Barn and used those to hang inside the frames.

I hung the wreath in the center frame (with burlap) and attached some keys to it with straight pins.

We wrapped burlap around some pieces of cork and then fitted them inside the frame. This way we would have something to attach the keys to. I just used straight pins and a little bit of hot glue to attach the keys, and letter "C".
The finished product!

I like how it turned out but I'm thinking the frames need a little more color other than blue. So, I think we're going to buy another paint color (maybe a rust orange/red color) and brush on a little bit of that. What do you think?? It's actually the color of our throw pillows but we don't have them out right now because Kelty thinks he can chew on them. :)

We also planted some flowers out front around our tree out front, so I'll be sure to post some pictures of that soon. We're ready for Spring here at our house!! Have a wonderful week!

Cupcakes and Kelty

Happy Friday everyone!
I just wanted to give a quick update on my cupcake job. It's been so much fun! I love coming home smelling like cupcakes. :) We have 8 flavors that we serve daily and then each day we have a specialty flavor. Strawberry is our most popular flavor, but my favorites are anything with chocolate! Bryan likes it when I work the closing shift because then I get to bring home the extras! Good thing I don't close every night, because we would have a big problem. ha!
This is the glass case where all of the cupcakes are displayed. My job is to work the front and sell the cupcakes to the customers. I also get to help frost and decorate the cupcakes. If you want to check out the website, go here.

We recently got these hats to wear at work, and by themselves they are a little boring. So, I decided to make a fabric flower to go on my hat! I love how it turned out and I can't wait to wear it next time I work. The colors for "Treat!" are the same colors that I used in my wedding, so I had plenty of fabric to match.
I also have to take a minute to brag on this little cutie. He graduated last night from his puppy training class at PetCo! Yay, Kelty!!! It was a 6 week class, and he has learned so much. There is still a lot we have to work on, but thankfully he is a quick learner. Also, he is now fully housebroken, praise the Lord!! :) He has gotten all his puppy shots from the vet, and he weighs around 25 pounds. He gained a lot of weight between these last visits, so now we're expecting him to start growing quickly. We're not sure how big he's supposed to get, so we're anxious to see.

I took some "pupcakes" from work to everyone in the training class, and they all loved it. It was a good way to celebrate.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

Spring Break in Amarillo

No matter where life takes us or how far away we roam,
our hearts may make the journey but will always be at home. :)

My mom and I found this sign when we went shopping and I loved it!
(I didn't buy it, but now I wish I would have)

Last week I went home to the Panhandle of Texas to visit my family for Spring Break. It was very refreshing to relax and spend time with my whole family. My favorite part had to be all the playtime with my favorite niece! She is 20 1/2 months old, adorable, and SMART!! She is entertaining and so much fun to be with. My brother just updated their blog with some cute Elliot stories. You can read about them here.

Here are some highlights from my trip!

We colored!

Read lots of books. (That's her cheesy face for the camera, isn't it cute!!)

Painted her toes pink!

And acted silly!! I LOVE THIS GIRL!!

I also made a shower curtain with my mom-in-law. It's made out of Amy Butler home decor fabric, and I love how it turned out. Now I need to get started redecorating my guest bathroom!

I got to paint pottery with my mom. I made a ring holder and she painted a bowl with a lid. I have always wanted to do this, and I enjoyed it so much. Thanks mom!!

I also got to spend a whole day daddy-daughter day. We met Jordan and Elliot at the park, and then got snow cones. So it was almost like a double daddy-daughter date! :)

My aunt drove back to Houston with me and spent the weekend here with us. It was pretty low key. We celebrated her birthday on Friday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM!) with pedicures, Panera Bread, some shopping, and an Eli Young Band concert at the Rodeo. She left yesterday morning to head back.

I had a fun week, and now I'm enjoying some quality time with my sweet husband, who I missed so much!

Treat!

I just wanted to share with everyone that I got a job at a new cupcake bakery! I have been substitute teaching since we moved down here and lately I haven't been getting very many calls to sub, so I wanted to try something different. I have always wanted to work at a bakery. I went in for an interview on Monday, and I start training tomorrow!! It's called "Treat" and they serve 8 flavors of fresh baked cupcakes along with cinnamon rolls and muffins. They also sell "pupcakes," which are cupcakes for dogs! I can't wait to bring some home for Kelty. I will be working at the counter selling cupcakes, while also helping some with baking and decorating. We open on Monday, so if you happen to be in the Northwest Houston area come get some cupcakes!!

(All these pictures are of my wedding {cup}cake.)
