Mid-Summer Update

June has come and gone, so that means it's already July. How did that happen??

We had a great 4th of July! It was a fun day with just the two of us.

Fort Worth has a new bike sharing program, where you can get a bike from one station, ride it somewhere and then dock it at another. It's a really cool concept! There is a station close to our house so on the 4th we walked to the closest station and picked up some bikes. We rode them down to the movie tavern to see Monsters University. Such a cute movie!

We rode the bikes back to the station after the movie, and walked back to our house. On the menu for lunch was ribs, grilled corn, baked beans, and fruit. It was delicious! Bryan had fun smoking the ribs. It was the first time we've done that and it was a success. That night we took the bikes down to the Trinity River where they shot off the city fireworks. It was perfect because we got to bypass all the traffic coming home. We zipped past everyone on our bikes!!

I have to share this recent discovery. I've never really been a fan of Greek yogurt until now. These are amazing, and taste exactly like a Key Lime pie. I've already eaten all the ones I bought at the store. Need to go back and stock up on more!

I've been spending the summer organizing the house and making sure everything has a place. This past weekend I organized my accessories in my closet. My earring holder is made out of a frame and screen. The necklace holder is just a piece of wood with colorful knobs. And I used command hooks to hang my hats. I love going in my closet and picking out outfits because it's so much easier to see everything!

I added a few burlap pennants to the window in our living room.

And I used the same burlap to make a magnet board for my new craft room/office. That room is coming together really well! It needs a few finishing touches and then I'll be sure to share pictures.

So we've had a lot of DIY projects going on around here. I'm sure Bryan is ready for me to go back to work so he won't have to do any more projects, ha!

I blogged about our 2nd day in Germany, so be sure to scroll down and check that out. My goal for this week is to finish blogging the trip, so be sure to check back for that.

Happy Monday!

Germany: Day 2

Hey, remember when we went to Germany oh you know in APRIL?!? I've been meaning to blog the rest of the trip, but somehow haven't yet. Bryan keeps bugging me about it, so here goes. Here is the recap from day 1 to see where I left off. Now, on to Germany Day 2. This would be Thursday, May 2nd, 2013.

Bryan had to meet with the customer to figure out the problem with the pump he went to fix. I stumbled out of bed so I could have breakfast with him before he left. We had breakfast in the hotel, then off he went. Breakfast was pretty standard cereal, pastries, coffee. But the weird thing was the meats. There was a tray set out of lunch meats. After breakfast, I headed back to the room and proceeded to fall asleep, ha! I wasn't about to walk around by myself and I was a little tired from the traveling. So I slept for a few more hours, then got up and got ready. When Bryan got back it was time for lunch, so we headed out into Salzwedel.

Lunch was at a pizza place in the middle of town. Now, I am all about traveling and getting the experience of other countries, but I'm not that keen on trying new foods. The pizza was delicious by the way! They did not have an English menu, nor did they speak very good English so trying to order was very interesting. But we did it!

After lunch, we took a stroll through the town. I loved all the little buildings. It was just what I pictured Germany would look like.

We stopped at a little cafe and had dessert. I had chocolate gelato, and Bryan got a macchiato. It came in this cool pint glass!

This was the town square in Salzwedel. Very charming!

Probably my favorite picture from the trip. Looks like it's straight out of a fairy tale! Everything was so green and lush.

Documentation that we were actually there!

Saw this sign in a little park. No idea what it says, but thought it looked cool.

The best part of the trip was the weather! It was beautiful; and as I sit here in July in Texas, I am missing those cool temps right about now!

Bryan went back out to the shop in the afternoon, and I took another nap! Then we ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. I had a grilled chicken salad and Bryan got a steak. (we are really adventurous!, ha!!) Call Me Maybe came on the radio and I had to laugh. :) Then we called it a night.

That was the end of Day 2! Stay tuned for Day 3 when we are off to Berlin!!
