Midweek Randoms

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! Here are some random ramblings for you this week.....

-I promise I will blog the rest of our Germany trip. I left you hanging with Day 1. So sorry, but as soon as school is out for the summer I'll finish documenting our trip. I'm also thinking about making a little Shutterfly book with our pictures!

-Tomorrow is a regular day at school and Friday is Field Day. Then we have another whole week! Ugh, the kids (and teachers!!) are already going stir crazy, don't know what I'm going to do with them for another 5 days. Game day anyone? Free draw?? I guess we'll see...

-Today we went to a local amusement park called Sandy Lake. All the kids in the school that met their reading goal got to go. It was busy, but fun! My friend Brooke (who teaches right next door to me) shamed me into going on the Tilt-a-Whirl with two of our sweet girls. That probably would have been the very last ride I would have chosen to ride. But I went and.....ugh! Felt so nauseous, and didn't feel normal again until I got home. It made me feel SO old, ha!

-Speaking of being OLD...my birthday was on Tuesday! Everybody at school was super sweet. My team decorated my door, bought me a cookie cake, a Hobby Lobby gift card, and I even got Chick fil A for lunch! And I came home to a package from my sweet mother in law, and spent the whole night talking on the phone to my awesome family!!

And it's ok to eat ice cream for dinner on your birthday right? Because that's exactly what I did.
Chocolate frozen custard with raspberries, yum!

-Since I have enjoyed teaching with my awesome team this year, I got them a little treat to show my appreciation. I had fun putting it together. Got the idea from Pinterest and made them a tag that said, "I couldn't have PICKED a better team!" I bought plastic berry cartons and Parasol PICKS from World Market, Fresh PICKED pear soap from Bath & Body Works, and made them some hair ties. And I may have cut open my hand making the hair ties. But that is neither here nor there.

And if you couldn't tell, I'm definitely counting down the days until summer. Memorial Day was just a little taste. We bought some watermelon, grilled out burgers, and I found my new summer drink. Sparkling Raspberry Limeade in my mason jar mug! I'm also eyeing this Okra Salad from Paula Deen. Can't wait for an excuse to make it.

And I leave you with this last picture of one of my littles who had too much fun today that he fell asleep on the bus on the way back to school. So sweet!!

Enjoy the rest of your week friends!

5 on Friday

Here's a little 5 on Friday update from The Clements Crew...

{ONE}

It was Bryan's 27th birthday yesterday! I didn't get to see him for most of the day, so I tried to leave a few treats for him so he'd feel special. This weekend we may do some birthday shopping and maybe play a round of golf.

And my birthday is just around the corner, yippee!!

{TWO}

This afternoon after school I hosted a movie night in my classroom. It was for my students who met their reading goal for the last 6 weeks. And I lucked out because only 11 kids came and they were all girls! So we had fun watching Willy Wonka and snacking on popcorn and chocolate. :)

And I'm officially crazy for staying late on a Friday to watch a movie with the kiddos, but it ended up being a lot of fun. And it makes it all worthwhile when you hear them say, "This is the best day ever!" I even had time to start packing up my room because we only have 2 weeks of school left. I will be moving rooms because next year I'll be teaching Kindergarten! I am BEYOND EXCITED! I am so excited to have a whole summer to plan.

Then, right after the movie night, Bryan and I went out to dinner with our favorite family, The Rodgers! We brought Keatyn (she was at movie night with me) and met up with them for some barbeque in downtown Roanoke. Then we stopped by the cutest candy store ever, "Hey Sugar" for some ice cream, yum!

I've been so blessed by the friendship with Kassie this year. I LOVE getting to see her everyday at work, she such a joy to be around!

{THREE}

 Last weekend I had so much fun throwing a baby shower for one of my best friends Laura, and her sweet baby boy Barrett. It was a vintage airplane/travel shower, and it turned out super cute. I love throwing baby showers!

{FOUR}

My family came to visit last weekend and we had a blast! The highlight of the weekend was definitely the baseball game on Sunday night. It was a great game and the Rangers won 8-11. But the best part was watching my nieces have so much fun. Charleigh LOVED cheering for the Rangers, and Elliot even made a sign! We start them young on the baseball train in the Jackson fam. :)

{FIVE}

And these pictures just make my heart m.e.l.t. I thouroughly enjoy watching Bryan interact with my nieces. He is the best uncle! I loved having these precious girls at MY house! They are super entertaining and fun!

Happy Weekend!

Germany: Day 1

Well friends, since the last time we've spoken Bryan and I have become...world travelers!! It happened rather quickly, and was a bit crazy! Let me give you the full story.

On Monday, April 29, Bryan texted me at work telling me he had to go to Germany the following day. This last minute notice is something we've had to get used to with the position he is in now. He helps troubleshoot problems with oil pumps out in the field, so when someone has an issue they call and he goes. {even if it is across the world!} That night we had made a Target run getting him everything he needed and he kept hinting at the fact that it would be so much better if he had a travel buddy. Well that got me to thinking...WHY NOT? My lesson plans were done for the week, I still had 4 personal days to use, and it was the chance of a lifetime!! So, I texted my principal and she said she would approve the days, yay!

Now I am definitely NOT spontaneous, so once I got the idea in my head I wanted to follow it through just to prove to myself that I could in fact do it! We booked my flight that night and started packing.

Tuesday morning, we got up early, finished packing, made another Target run (this time for ME!), dropped Kelty off at the boarders, and headed to the airport.

My first trip to Europe and I only had a small suitcase and a carry on!! Thought that needed documented! :)

Our flight from DFW left at 3:20, and we got into Berlin around 12:00, it was May 1st. {Germany is 7 hours ahead of us} We picked up a guy who works for the same company as Bryan (but in the Scotland office), got the rental car and started our 3 hour drive up to Salzwedel, Germany. We went straight to our cute little hotel called, Hotel Union.

The outside of the hotel and the view out our window.

 Bryan had a quick meeting with the company he came to help and then it was dinner time. We walked around Salzwedel took lots of pictures then headed back to the room. We weren't too hungry and our bodies were super confused so we ate some snacks watched an episode of Parenthood on DVD{all the shows on TV were in German!}, and went to bed. Here is a few pics of walking around Salzwedel. It was the perfect little German town!

Come back for Day 2 of our travels!
